Neeraj Chopra, a javelin thrower, began his Diamond League championship defence on Saturday with a convincing victory in the first leg, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated him and wished him luck in the remaining competitions.
“First event of the year and first place!” he tweeted. @Neeraj_chopra1 excels in the Doha Diamond League with the world record throw of 88.67 metres. Best wishes to him! Best wishes for your future aspirations.
The 25-year-old Olympic champion defeated a star-studded competition with a best throw of 88.67 metres to start his season. He had previously won the 2022 Diamond League Final title in Switzerland in September.
