At the MAMI Film Festival, Sunny Leone and Anurag Kashyap get standing ovations for Kennedy

<p>Anurag Kashyap’s film Kennedy had its world debut at the Jio MAMI Film Festival in Mumbai to rapturous ovation, after its triumph at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year. In a video posted on the official social media account of the film festival, Anurag, Sunny, and the Kennedy crew were greeted with cheers and ovation as they walked onto the stage after the premiere. <p>On Saturday morning, tickets for Kennedy, which features Sunny and Rahul in the major roles, were available to Jio MAMI Film Festival participants. Kennedy’s event, which was held at NMACC’s 2000 The Grand Theatre, quickly sold out. Some spectators spent at least two hours waiting in line as walk-ins in order to get a seat in the theater.</p>
<p>“A journey that started in Mumbai, went to Cannes, Sydney, Seoul, and so many other places across the globe, has found its way back home…back to the city the film belongs to,” Anurag commented on Instagram in reference to Kennedy posters he published ahead of the film’s Mumbai premiere.Mumbai, see you tonight!Charlie and Kennedy are going to be waiting <img src=”×72/2764.png” alt=”❤” class=”wp-smiley” style=”height: 1em; max-height: 1em;” />.</p>
<p>Kennedy by Anurag Kashyap had its Cannes debut earlier this year. With a packed house, the movie debuted to a standing ovation that lasted seven minutes. Anurag told Film Companion, “It’s always special to show your film to the world at Cannes and it’s a once-in-a-lifetime moment to play at the Grand Theatre Lumiere,” in reference to the standing ovation. Kennedy is a very personal and important movie for me. We have poured our whole selves into this movie. I’m really grateful for the audience’s seven-minute standing ovation. In addition to being really appreciative, I’m also eager.</p>
