Going ahead, Google will permit direct 1:1 calls among its Workspace users. Workspace users had to establish a meeting link in advance of the meeting and send it to others via email or chat as a calendar invite until recently. However, with the Meet smartphone app, users may now conduct “cloud-encrypted 1:1 video calls” with other users.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-270625″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/theindiaprint.com-this-toddler-from-indonesia-used-to-smoke-40-cigarettes-a-day-download-2023-11-06t.jpg” alt=”theindiaprint.com this toddler from indonesia used to smoke 40 cigarettes a day download 2023 11 06t” width=”1392″ height=”696″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/theindiaprint.com-this-toddler-from-indonesia-used-to-smoke-40-cigarettes-a-day-download-2023-11-06t.jpg 318w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/theindiaprint.com-this-toddler-from-indonesia-used-to-smoke-40-cigarettes-a-day-download-2023-11-06t-150×75.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1392px) 100vw, 1392px” title=”These Users Can Now Make "Direct Calls" Using Google Meet Without Sending Links 3″>

Google said in the update blog post that “you can now place a Meet call on your mobile app directly to a colleague, ringing their mobile device.” Depending on the version of Workspace you have, you will be able to utilize Meet features in that call itself, such as in-meeting chat, virtual backdrops, visual effects, live closed captioning, and more.

Google said that this feature “can only be turned OFF by turning off Meet meetings and calls for your organization.” It would be enabled by default.

It’s also important to note that Meet calls will not support Google Duo’s “legacy calling features,” which include family mode, group calls, messaging, moments, and knock knock. Those who choose not to upgrade to the latest app version may still use these features.

When Will It Become Available?

All users of Workspace will be able to get this upgrade, according to Google. For iOS users, it started on November 2 and will begin for Android users on November 14. Furthermore, it’s possible that the functionality won’t become accessible for up to 15 days since this is a “extended rollout.”
